The East Eugene section of the city boasts some of Eugene's most desirable real estate and is the home of the University of Oregon.

A prominent landmark in East Eugene is Hayward Field, America's most famous track and field venue and site of numerous Olympic Track and Field Trials, including 2008 and 2012. The 2012 Trials were filled with highlights including a world record in the decathlon by former Oregon Duck and NCAA champion, Ashton Eaton who went on to win the decathalon at the London Olympics. Legendary University of Oregon track star Steve Prefontaine ran his way to glory here in the early 1970s, capturing every American record from the mile to 10,000 meters. The movie “Prefontaine” was largely filmed on the UO campus and depicts the gritty track star's life and death.

The co-founders of Nike, Phil Knight and UO Coach Bill Bowerman, created their initial running footwear and introduced them to the world from Hayward Field. Eugene, Oregon is known as Tracktown USA by track and field fans across the nation.

Another major landmark in East Eugene is the University of Oregon's sparkling new, $227 million Matthew Knight Arena on Franklin Boulevard. Of course, the Ducks play hoops here but the arena hosts major acts like Elton John, Cirque du Soleil and many other well known performers.

East Eugene residents enjoy the arts offerings at the University of Oregon -- and many of them can walk to Beall Hall and take in its fabulous acoustics. The School of Music hosts a large number of concerts, including the Bach Festival, every year while the Theater department stages outstanding productions. Great shopping and dining options can be found along 13th Street near the University and on Franklin Blvd. Of course, with 25,000 students in the area, the neighborhoods of East Eugene are attractive to renters and therefore to property investors.
